Prayer / Update: June 21 - June 30

Dear Ones,

THANK YOU for your continued prayers and support. Ever grateful for God's mercies, new every morning.

Do we have good hours? YES. Do we have bad hours? YOU BET. We did before the accident, and we do now.

Just because we are Christians does not mean we live in perfect "Mary Poppins" land, where a spoonful of sugar simply helps the medicine go down.

Reality is that we are human sinners saved by God's grace. We get weary, frustrated. scared, confused. The prayer that Tim prayed on Dec. 7 in the field continues for all of us: "Lord, I Need You Now."

We are nothing without God's grace. Nothing. Our next breath happens by God's grace alone. Tim and I, along with our family, are learning to depend fully on God, day by day, hour by hour, by His grace alone, through Jesus Christ, by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

"...the Bible actually makes it quite clear that faith in Jesus Christ and in Christianity does not guarantee a good life, but a perfect eternity. Indeed, there is more prediction in Scripture of a struggle...on earth for the believer than there is of gain and success...  Michael Coren | posted 7/17/2012. ChristianityToday.com

Saturday, June 21 ~ Grateful for a good day together. Sat. jobs finished. Orens and Zimmermans over for supper.

Sunday, June 22 ~ Grateful to God that we are able to go to church together as a family

Monday, June 23 ~ Grateful to God that Tim is able to work; enjoyed an extended Fauble family birthday party at Great Grandma Fauble's home for supper.

Tuesday, June 24 ~ Tim works, Physical Therapy in the morning. Yes, there is a lot going on with Tim. And others in our home...

Our second, Joel, falls during basketball camp & and breaks his left (dominant) arm. It is a minor fracture, but it requires a cast. A few stats: in 13 months time, this marks our family's 16th fracture. Within 13 months, Joel becomes the 4th fracture patient in our family. Luke and Joel's fractures required no surgeries. Tim's and Caleb's did. In the last 13 months, all the males in our household have fractured at least one bone. Clearly, Joel must have been feeling left out. :) just.kidding. Truly, the healed broken bones in our family prove that God heals brokeness. Beautifully, and in His time.

Wednesday, June 25 ~ Tim works

Thursday, June 26 ~ Tim works; Physical Therapy in the afternoon

Friday, June 27 ~ Tim works

Saturday, June 28 ~ Accomplished Saturday jobs, get together with Kelly and Kim Vander Zwaag's family for supper. THANK YOU to Brother Brent for grinding feed!

Sunday, June 29 ~ Thankful to go to church together as a family. We enjoy the extended Vander Zwaag family gathering for lunch at Uncle Bob and Aunt Sandy Vander Zwaag's home.

Monday, June 30 ~ Tim works; afternoon appt. with Foot & Ankle Surgeon, Dr. Anderson, in GR. We give thanks to God for a favorable report.

Tim is cleared to remove the heavy boot and wear a regular shoe. As we have watched with the 4 different boots, we are careful to spot pressure points on Tim's foot for him, so that he does not develop more pressure sores. Because Tim lacks feeling in much of his foot, he continues to need help identifying where pressure points are/will be.

Tim is also cleared to use a cane for walking instead of crutches. From bed-bound, to wheelchair, to walker, to crutches and now to cane. We give thanks to God for evidence of God's healing hand!

Tim will continue to wear the compression stocking, which helps control swelling & discomfort. As we expected to hear, doc confirms that muscle damage from the accident remains. It is unknown if/when certain muscle function will return. For now, Tim will continue physical therapy. We are considering many ways to help Tim's leg progress. Tim will use a cane to walk, wear a shoe, and move with a "peg-leg" motion. As Tim continues to heal, we give thanks to God for your continued prayers and support.

This evening, Tim drives the tractor and grinder mixer from our home to Mom and Dad Vander Zwaag's.

Life for our family continues at a slower pace than before. Not complaining. At All. But we are adjusting.
