Update/Prayer

Dear Family and Friends,

THANK YOU for your continued prayers & support!

Saturday, April 5 ~ sick kids, quiet farm, rest, Tim and I finish tax prep together. Chores go well.

Sunday, April 6 ~ sick kids, quiet farm, rest, chores go well.

Monday, April 7 ~ 4 months since Dec. 7. Tim works from home on computer. Full Spring Break week begins. Home nurse visits for her weekly visit and reports that all looks good. She determines that Tim is considered at "homebound" status for at least 7 more weeks.

Every Monday Tim's nurse visits. Her schedule is understandably varied, so she calls mid-morning, the day of, to set up her arrival time with us.

Physical Therapist calls at 6:30 pm to set up Tuesday's at-home session time.

After supper, the kids who are not sick help me do chores. Two are assigned to the loft to toss bales. One is assigned to the rabbit, one is assigned to barn floors, I feed the Holstein steer, and all kids help.

I tuck kiddos in for the night, and run off to Meijer for a late-night grocery run.

Tuesday, April 8 ~ Tim works from home on computer. Physical Therapist Session takes place here at home and goes well. Tim continues to use wheelchair and walker to get around. Therapist continues to apply passive pressure to Tim's foot/ankle. TIm is unable to control ankle movement on his own. Lots of stretching and work throughout the week. Waiting for custom-fit heel-free brace to be made/finished (it is in the process of being made) and fitted to Tim's leg to move forward with meeting physical therapy goals.

Every Tuesday and Thursday the physical therapist comes to our home to work with Tim. The therapist calls around 6 pm the nights before to let us know an approximate time of arrival for the session.

The kids and I make a run into town to pick up a prescription slip from the doc's office, drop it off at the pharmacy, and run errands while we wait for the prescription to be filled. Prescription runs are a new normal, sometimes daily, errand. Due to the type of prescriptions, there is no rhyme, reason or ability to conveniently refill them all at the same time at this point.

We make it back home in time for lunch, treat Tim's head wound and give him a hair cut (buzz) which works best for his head wound care. Tim showers then elevates leg to reduce swelling until therapist arrives. Obviously, if Tim's leg, ankle, and foot are too swollen, the therapist is unable to work with Tim to the capacity that she could if there is less swelling.

Chores go well.

Body and Soul Class!

I am leading Body & Soul Fitness Cardio Strength & Flexibility with Pilates classes at Borculo CRC basement on Tuesday nights, 8-9:15 pm & Saturday mornings, 7:30-8:45 am. I give thanks for this, A BLESSING in my life, spiritually, physically, emotionally & mentally. I pray that these classes are blessing the ladies who are participating as well! Returning to a "normal" place with this...for those of you who do not know, I am an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor with Body and Soul Fitness, and I am currently approved to use a Call CD during this spring session, which is not usual for Body and Soul classes. I have tried to memorize the routines as I usually do, but current priorities in my life are such that it is not possible nor realistic to spend the time memorizing the calls.

Wednesday, April 9 ~ Tim works from home on computer. THANK YOU to Cousin Jonathan Levering for driving Tim today. Tim goes to hand therapist (NE GR) for recasting of left-hand ring finger. Tim's finger is recasted at 12-15 degrees away from zero degrees, the goal. Tim and Jonathan also drop off taxes at our tax man in GR.

I stay home with the kids and we set up camp in the yard - a fire pit made of an old washing machine tub and a tent from the basement. The kids love it and we rest, camp, and play in the sunshine until Tim and Jonathan return. Physical Therapist calls in the evening to set up Thursday's appointment time.

Chores go well.

Thursday, April 10 ~ Tim works from home on computer. Physical Therapy Session at our home, which goes well. Chores go well.

Friday, April 11 ~ Kids who are sick are starting to feel better and stronger. We celebrate Caleb's 12th birthday with our birthday traditions. Caleb was born on my Grandpa and Step-Grandma Pals's 10th wedding anniversary. :) They would have been married 22 years today. The last two birthdays in our family, Tim's and Lilly's, were spent at hospitals and rehab facilities. We give thanks to God that we are home for Caleb's birthday.

We drive Tim into work. While Tim is at work, we ride bikes and play outside. We pick Tim up from work and head out for Caleb's birthday. SO GOOD TO GET OUT!!! THANK YOU to my brother, Jeremy, for doing chores for us while we are out.

Here is Caleb on his 12th birthday. Our birthday traditions include homemade birthday pancakes or cinnamon rolls for breakfast, served to you on the birthday plate. (Yup, I know. NOT a "healthy" breakfast, and YES! They are hungry an hour after eating the carbs. But, it's a birthday thing, okay???) :) Caleb chose cinn. rolls. He loves the icing. The candles are the "1" and "2" from his first and second birthdays. :) Yes, I save things like this for days just like this. We are on the deck together for this picture. In the background you can see the camp we set up. We have had this tent for years. We bought it for camping. We have used it a few times, and Caleb and Joel have used it with Cadet Campouts as well. For Caleb's birthday, we called this "Camp Caleb." The dog is not ours, but he is staying with us for a little while. We also set up a firepit, which you can't see from this picture, but it's there...it is made of an old washing machine tub, and it works great! Caleb is wearing one of his favorite shirts here. It is from last year's South Olive Bible Camp. :)

Saturday, April 12 ~ Body and Soul Class

Spring Break day away to John Ball Zoo. We have a membership there, purchased several months ago. As many memberships prove, it pays to purchase a family membership if you know you will use the membership enough to eventually enter the zoo for free.

Ever wheeled your hubby through John Ball Zoo? Back in the day, I often strolled 2 toddlers, 1 babe and the luggage that goes along with them in a double stroller through the zoo. Yes, as many of you have done, I also bundled 3 into one stroller. Worked beautifully, and I LOVED taking them there! Still do!

The last time we were at the zoo, Labor Day weekend 2013, I wheeled our Caleb through the zoo (broken femur). So, I had a bit of an idea of the adventure that awaited. I proposed a deal to the kids...if they pushed Daddy through the "first half" of the zoo, I would push him through the "second half" of the zoo. I knew neither half would be easy breezy... smart kiddos. They didn't take the deal, but with winks and smiles, we were ready to take turns pushing. :) Great work out for pushers!!! Concentric up the hills, and for balance, always work the opposite muscles, proving to be a great work out for eccentric down the hills. It also rained throughout our visit, so the wet pavement added some exciting intensity as well!

We made it to the top of {paved} John Ball Zoo! WOO HOO!

More excitingly, I figured out how to add pics to this blog! HAHA!

Doesn't Tim's flap look great????!!! It's alive!!! ... and SHRinking...due to atrophy...exactly what it's supposed to do! We give thanks to God for Tim's life! So thankful to get out and have some FUN!

After the zoo, we go to my Grandma Fauble's house for a birthday party celebrating many birthdays. It is good to see and be with everyone in a "normal" Fauble birthday party setting. :)

After the party, we drive home, tuck Tim into bed for the night, and the kids and I tackle chores, which go well. Saturday evening showers for church in the morning.

Sunday, April 13 ~ Celebrate Palm Sunday. Ever grateful to God.

Lord-willing, Tim's upcoming events this week:

Monday, April 14: Nurse visits

Tuesday. April 15: Physical Therapy at home

Wednesday, April 16: Appointments with reconstructive surgeon for head-to-toe check up and with hand therapist for recasting of left-hand ring finger

Thursday: April 17: Physical Therapy at home

Friday, April 18: Tim would love to head into work for a bit. Good Friday.

Sunday, April 20: Easter Sunday!

PRAYER:

THANK YOU for continued prayers, cards, visits, gifts, and meals.

We are humbled and ever grateful to be a part of God's family. We give thanks to God for you all!

4 months since the accident, we remain in awe of God's healing and provisions. We believe and claim His promises.

We give thanks to God that our children are feeling better after croup, fevers, and coughs. We give thanks to God that Tim and I are remaining healthy thus far.

We give thanks to God that Tim's pressure sore on his heel and open wound on his head are healthy and healing well.

Please pray that the custom boot/brace will be ready as soon as possible so that Tim can move forward with meeting physical therapy goals.

Please pray that God continues to provide wisdom, strength, patience, peace and rest for each day, according to His will. Pray that God helps us know how and when to ask for help. Not easy for us, not an an attribute that comes naturally. Although we are grateful, we are human sinners saved by grace. We are also naturally tired as we continue to live "day by day." (Not to mention...you can imagine the "back-seat driving" from the literal back seat (Tim) when I am driving him around...talk about marriage boot camp...for real, people..keep praying!) Seriously, please pray that God continues to hold us close, to protect our family and our marriage.

Caleb adds, "Thank you for all the birthday wishes. God is blessing us every step of the way."

We leave you with words from the Bible...regarding Palm Sunday...TRUE STORY! It's one thing to read this & know it in your head. It's another thing when God transforms your heart and life. We pray that God blesses you, according to His will, as you read these words of truth. Words cannot express our gratitude to God for giving us the opportunity to once again, read these words together as a family. As we anticipate Easter Sunday together...

From John 12...

The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,

“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

“Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”

At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.

Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.

Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”

Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet:
“Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them.”

Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.

Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God.

Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

“If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”
