As many of you are aware, our family is approaching the year anniversary of Tim's accident, Dec. 7.
We are later than usual with updating the blog, due to LIFE!!! We were involved with our school auction, which took place on Nov. 1, and which is a project/event that we look forward to every year.
Our 4 kiddos are in school, doing their best to conquer homework and participate in activities throughout the week. We are honored to be able to enjoy these things with them. Please know, our oldest, Caleb, was limited in activity last year at this time due to a broken/healing spiral fracture in his right femur. This year, he is free and clear to move forward with basketball. Praise God!
We celebrate and give thanks to God for the joys of our home - simply being together in our home is a continued & rich blessing!
Tim & Medical
Tim wears his compression stocking and AFO brace on his left leg. Overall, we give thanks to God that Tim continues to gain strength & endurance.
Tim is meeting with Dr. Do (reconstructive surgeon) on Dec. 9 & Dr. Ringler (orthopedic surgeon) on Dec. 16.
Tim says his pain is "manageable." Tim feels consistent pain in his ankle, mostly at night. He takes Lyrica to manage nerve pain in his left leg/ankle/foot.
Tim & Work
We give thanks to God that Tim continues to work full time in machine sales at Quality Machine & Automation in Holland.
Tim & Farming
Tim is a full-time machine salesman, and he raises Holstein beef steer "on the side." We give thanks to God that Tim is able to do chores daily.
Harvest: Soybeans (34.5 acres) have been harvested. The majority of the 22 acres of ear corn has been picked. We have about 6 acres yet to harvest.
We are working on hauling shelled corn (corn that is dried and not on the cob) hauled to our farm, so that we don't have to transport corn throughout the winter months. We grind the shelled and ear corn together to make feed for our steer.
Butchering: We give thanks to God for a successful butchering in October and November. Next butcher date is Dec. 6.
Spreading manure: We give thanks to God that Tim recently & safely spread manure on the land where the accident happened.
Family
We give thanks to God that we were able to attend a combined 80-90 year-old birthday party for Tim's Aunt Wilma Levering (80) and Tim's Grandma Janet Katsma (90) on the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 1, at Hillcrest CRC in Hudsonville, MI. Aunt Wilma and Grandma Katsma are sisters. This was a special afternoon. :)
Caleb, Joel, Lilly, Luke, Tim, Teresa and Grandma Janet Katsma at her 90th Birthday Party!
We give thanks to God that I (Teresa) am able to work at the City Deli on 8th St. in Holland while the kiddos are in school. I am also ever grateful to be able to lead Body and Soul Fitness Cardio Strength and Flexibility Classes throughout the week.
I know that many of you understand what I mean when I admit that I am on pins and needles with the sharp memories of one year coming up. I remember vividly the days and weeks leading up to the accident. Many times, it all seems unreal. Did this really happen?
And it did. For reasons beyond our imagination.
Because I can't get enough of the Word, I dive in with Beth Moore. Currently, I am studying I & II Thessalonians, "Children of the Day."
I relate well to what she writes: "Joy in hardship is weird. 'Weird,' according to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, means 'of strange or extraordinary character.' People who retain delight while walking through demoralizing circumstances are not normal. They are either delusional, detached, or, in the case of the new Thessalonian believers, engulfed by the Holy Spirit." Children of the Day, p. 27.
What would we do without the power of the Holy Spirit?
Tim and I are broken sinners saved by grace. We fear, love & serve God Almighty. Please pray that His story in our broken lives would bless others and encourage them to live a life in relationship with Jesus Christ, our Savior. We are a mess. I cannot imagine life without the love of Jesus Christ. If you don't know Him, please INVITE HIM INTO YOUR LIFE. He loves you.

REQUESTS FOR PRAYER
Please pray for comfort...Our family puppy, Willow, was accidentally hit and killed by a bus, in front of the children. This just happened this past Friday morning before school. It happened so fast...the kids were actually on the road trying to coax her off. We give thanks to God that the children responded to my screams in time to run off the road.
We are praying for the driver of the bus. GOD BLESS OUR BUS DRIVERS! They have incredibly demanding responsibilities. We give thanks to God that children were kept safe throughout.
As our family suffers a loss...We pray with confidence that the Holy Spirit will continue to comfort. We give thanks to God for the time that we had with her. She was an a.m.a.z.i.n.g. and unforgettable, comforting gift from God.
Also, please continue to pray for our family as we adjust to new ways of "normal..."
AS ALWAYS, WE CONTINUE TO GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR EACH ONE OF YOU.
Ever grateful to God alone, for His love continuously shown through you,
Tim and Teresa
